Target Information
Target Name BMP-7
Gene Abbr. BMP7
Gene ID 655
Full Name bone morphogenetic protein 7
Alias OP-1
Introduction Bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) were first identified as molecules that can induce ectopic bone and cartilage formation. BMPs belong to the TGF-β superfamily, playing many diverse functions during development. BMPs are synthesized as precursor proteins and then processed by cleavage to release the C-terminal mature BMP. BMPs initiate signaling by binding to a receptor complex containing type I and type II serine/threonine receptor kinases that then phosphorylate Smad (mainly Smad1, 5, and 8), resulting in the translocation of Smad into the nucleus. BMP was also reported to activate MAPK pathways in some systems.BMP7, also known as osteogenic protein-1 (OP-1), is found to be upregulated in some cancer cells, and may play a role in cancer metastasis.
Product Details
Host Rabbit
Clonality Polyclonal
Clone No. N/A
Immunogen Synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Gly99 of mouse BMP7.
Source/Purification Antibodies are produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding Gly99 of mouse BMP7. Antibodies are purified by protein A and peptide affinity chromatography.
Usage
Application WB, IP
Dilutions Western Blot (1:1000); Immunoprecipitation (1:50)
MW(KDa) 49
Reactivity Mouse
Sensitivity Transfected Only
Specificity It detects transfected levels of total mouse BMP7 protein. It only recognizes the BMP7 precursor protein (49 kDa), not the mature secreted from (16 kDa).
