Methylation usually occurs on transcription factors and histones, especially on arginine (R) and lysine (K) residues. Arginine methylation can regulate RNA processing, gene transcription, DNA damage repair, protein translocation, and signal transduction. Lysine methylation can regulate histone function and participate in epigenetic regulation of gene transcription.
CD BioSciences uses specific antibodies to enrich methylated peptide fragments and bind them to LC-MS/MS to enable quantitative analysis of large-scale methylated proteins.
