Description

SAE1a (SUO-activation enzyme subunit 1A) is a dimeric enzyme that acts as the E1 ligase of SUMO1 and SUMO2. It mediates ATP-dependent SUMO protein activation and the formation of thioesters with conserved cysteine residues on SAE2. Functional redundancy with its parallel SAE1B. Alias :sumo activated enzyme subunit 1-1, ubiquitin-like 1-activated enzyme E1A.
