Description

Plant MnSOD catalyzes the conversion of superoxide into molecular oxygen and water. It binds a 1mn cofactor to a subunit of the tetramer complex. The antioxidant system acts as a defense against oxidative stress. Superoxide dismutase (SOD) catalyzes the conversion of superoxide dismutase into oxygen and hydrogen oxygen. sod is classified as FeSOD, MnSOD or Cu/ZnSOD according to its metal cofactors. Chloroplasts usually contain Cu/ZnSOD and in some plant species contain FeSOD. Synonyms :MSD1, SODA, SOD3
