NCBI Official Symbol
Man4
NCBI Official Synonym Symbols
Man4a; LeMAN4a; LeMAN4i; mannanase
NCBI Protein Information
mannan endo-1,4-beta-mannosidase 4
NCBI Summary
Mutation in Man4 gene in some tomato cultivars, e.g. Walter and Heinz 1439, causes a frame-shift which results in an altered, truncated C terminus of the enzyme in comparison to the active form. The LeMAN4a, active endo-beta-mannanase (NM_001247202), is longer by four amino acids, Ser-Lys-Leu-Ser, and the Arg at position 394 is an Ala in LeMAN4i (NM_001247945), the inactive form of the enzyme.
