NCBI Summary
Encodes HDA14, a member of the histone deacetylase family proteins that can deacetylate a-tubulin, associates with a/b-tubulin and is retained on GTP/taxol-stabilized microtubules, at least in part, by direct association with the PP2A-A2 subunit. The association of a histone deacetylase with PP2A suggests a direct link between protein phosphorylation and acetylation.

UniProt Comments
Responsible for the deacetylation of lysine residues on the N-terminal part of the core histones (H2A, H2B, H3 and H4). Histone deacetylation gives a tag for epigenetic repression and plays an important role in transcriptional regulation, cell cycle progression and developmental events. Histone deacetylases act via the formation of large multiprotein complexes .
