Transcriptomics

Transcriptomics

Transcriptomics is the study of the transcriptome of a biological system. A transcriptome is the complete collection of RNAs produced through gene transcription by the whole genome. Transcriptome profiling allows researchers to characterize the transcriptional activity in a biological system, analyze gene regulation and determine gene function.

In the study of signaling pathways, transcriptomics analysis provides information on how regulators (e.g., transcription factors) affect the gene expression, and the molecular basis of cellular changes induced by perturbations of signaling pathways.

Adapting the most advanced high-throughput sequencing technologies, CD BioSciences offers powerful solutions to profile transcriptome in cells, tissues, and organisms, aiming at determining the effects of gene manipulation or certain treatments on gene expression, and mining the cause-and-effect relationship between signaling pathways and cellular processes.

Transcriptome

A transcriptome is composed of protein-coding mRNAs and non-coding RNAs (ncRNA), the latter of which can be divided into long non-coding RNA and short non-coding RNA.

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are RNA transcripts with a length of more than 200 nucleotides which are not translated into proteins. They regulate gene expression in terms of transcription, splicing and translation.

Transcriptomics

Short non-coding RNAs include transfer RNA (tRNA), micro RNA (miRNA), small interfering RNA (siRNA), small nucleolar RNA (snoRNA), Piwi-interacting RNA (piRNA) and enhancer RNA (eRNA). They are involved in gene transcription and post- transcriptional regulation of gene expression (e.g., gene silencing).

Solutions for Transcriptomics

Solutions

Gene Expression Profiling

Gene Expression Profiling has been widely applied in biological and medical research. Determination of gene expression in different tissues, at different stages of development, or under different treatments provides information on gene regulation and reveals how the biological system functions.

CD BioSciences offers solutions for gene expression profiling, including RNA-seq (mRNA-seq, long non-coding RNA-seq, small RNA-seq), microarray, differential expression (DE) analysis and gene ontology (GO) analysis. You may also find our Gene Expression Profiling service helpful.

Solutions

Ribosome Profiling

Ribosome profiling, also named Ribo-Seq or ribosome footprinting, is a deep-sequencing-based tool that measures the translation of mRNA globally and in vivo.

CD BioSciences offers ribosome profiling as a solution for identifying translated mRNA regions and determining the effects of certain signaling pathways on protein synthesis.

Solutions

Single-cell Transcriptomics

Regular RNA analysis profiles genes expression in cell populations. However, the transcriptomes of a multicellular organism differ from one cell type to another. Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) analyzes the transcriptome of single cells, which allows more accurate determination of changes in transcriptome after treatment or under gene modification.

CD BioSciences offers single-cell transcriptomics study to unravel the heterogeneity of cell populations and monitor the dynamics of transcriptome.
